We take a holistic look at the most topical issues in the world of P&I ahead of the 2021/22 renewal with two key International Group P&I Clubs; West and Britannia.
In an interview style, we will discuss with Tom Bowsher, Group CEO of West, and Simon Williams, Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer of Britannia, the widely anticipated new ‘claims cycle’, the direct and indirect impact of COVID-19, the issue of sustainability across the shipping industry and finally whether diversification really is the answer.
Integrated within the questioning is a chance for the audience to also be involved, with poll questions taken throughout the webinar to give the Monaco shipping industry’s take on the discussion.

Mr. Tom Bowsher
Tom is Group CEO at West. He joined the Club in 2001, after graduating in Maritime Business and Law at Plymouth University. Prior to his appointment as Group CEO, Tom had underwriting responsibility for the Club’s membership in Greece, Europe and the United States, as well as holding the position of Global Underwriting Director.

Mr. Simon Williams
Simon joined Britannia in 2017 from North of England P&I Club where he worked for 17 years having joined as a Claims Manager he moved across to North's Underwriting team in 2005. Prior to joining North Simon started his career at Steamship Mutual as a Claims Executive before moving to Liverpool & London in 1993 as a Claims Manager.

Mr. Alex Gray
Alex obtained a LLB from the University of Southampton and a LLM from the University of Law whilst working at the Standard P&I Club. After qualifying as a solicitor in England & Wales , Alex joined a law firm in Monaco. Alex subsequently worked with the UK P&I and UK Defence Club in London and Piraeus. Alex joined P.L. Ferrari & Co in 2019 as a Manager in the London office.
